Printers can operate in various modes that differ in print quality and speed, as well as economy. In addition, during operation, they wear out and become dirty, which deteriorates the quality of the resulting printouts.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are using a dot matrix printer in text mode, use the buttons on the front panel to change the print quality. When you switch to NLQ (Near Letter Quality) mode, the machine prints more slowly, but with better quality than in Draft mode, and the ink consumption per page is increased.
Step 2
If you are using a dot matrix, inkjet, or laser printer in graphic mode, run the Printer Settings Utility (the way you start it depends on the operating system you are using). Select a printer, and then in its settings select the desired compromise between speed, quality and cost of printing.
Step 3
Remember that in any printer, regardless of its design, not only cartridges, but also motors have a finite resource. Low-quality prints use up ink, ink or toner more slowly, but the engines have to run at higher revs and wear out faster.
Step 4
If the laser printer starts to print faintly with white streaks, shake the cartridge horizontally. After that, it will be possible to print several dozen more pages. After that, it must be replaced or refilled.
Step 5
If the streaks on the printout of the laser printer are not white but black, have the machine professionally cleaned and prevented.
Step 6
For refilling laser cartridges, use the services of only workshops that clean them with a vacuum cleaner, even if their services are more expensive. Replace the cartridge with a new one after three or four refills, and hand over the old one (some workshops even buy them).
Step 7
Contrary to what manufacturers say, inkjet printers perform better and last longer when used with a continuous ink supply system (CISS). This is due to the fact that when using it, air does not enter the tubes, as is the case when changing cartridges. Use only high quality ink with these systems. Remember that even they fade in light much faster than the original, so protect your prints from direct sunlight. To prevent the print head from drying out, use the printer regularly.
