Speakers with dual voice coil are of the same type of electrodynamic type. In addition, externally, they almost do not differ from similar designs with one voice coil. Connecting a subwoofer to a PC is slightly different from how a conventional sound system is set up. Nevertheless, following the step-by-step instructions, you can easily cope with the task.
It is necessary
- - subwoofer;
- - acoustic wires.
Instructions
Step 1
Become familiar with your sound system, especially its outputs. It is imperative to calculate the correspondence of their number to the number of columns. If you have an additional output for a subwoofer, remember, you will not have much of a problem. However, if there is none, you should turn off one pair of speakers.
Step 2
If the number of outputs in the sound card matches the number of speakers, it is necessary to connect special speakers to the speaker wires. To do this, carefully fasten them to special terminals. The same should be done if the number of outputs exceeds the number of speakers, including a powered subwoofer. Proceed in the same way if the sound card has a subwoofer connector.
Step 3
Screw the other ends of the wires to the main unit of the speaker system. As a rule, they are attached using the same terminals to the rear panel.
Step 4
Connect your speakers to the connectors located on the sound card. When doing this, connect the corresponding outputs to the speaker main unit using wires that have jack sockets.
Step 5
Connect a powered subwoofer to the dedicated jack on your sound card.
Step 6
Since you have to deal with a subwoofer with two voice coils, remember that each coil (coil) must be connected to a separate channel located on the power amplifier. This option is extremely useful for amplifiers that are structurally incapable of functioning in a bridged connection. Only this type of inclusion should be rightfully recognized as the ancestor of subwoofers with a double voice coil.
