You can achieve good sound quality from your car audio system by adding special components such as an amplifier and passive subwoofer. The installation of these devices in the service requires special costs, therefore it is much more economical to make the connection yourself. So you can save not only money, but also the time that you would have to spend on a trip to the service.

How to connect a passive subwoofer and amplifier

It is necessary

  • - passive subwoofer;
  • - amplifier;
  • - sound wires;
  • - instruments;
  • - cotton gloves;
  • - spanners;
  • - plastic ties;
  • - double sided tape;
  • - felt;
  • - mounts for housings.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the hood of your car and unscrew the nut that holds the negative terminal block. Remove the terminal from the battery. This will de-energize your machine and prevent short circuits.

Step 2

Remove the radio unit from the recess. To do this, use two special keys. If they are not there, you can get the radio tape recorder using two pieces of thin and stiff wire. Pull out the case very carefully, do not pull sharply towards yourself, so as not to damage the wires connected from the back.

Step 3

Find the amplifier connector on the back of the radio. If it is not on your head unit model, you will either have to purchase a new radio tape recorder or visit an electrical service where you can solder this connector.

Step 4

Connect the wire and carefully route it behind the torpedo. You do not need to remove the panel itself. Find a technical hole through which you can pass the cable.

Step 5

Choose a place in the trunk to install the amplifier and subwoofer. In no case should these components touch each other, otherwise characteristic noise will appear at maximum sound volume.

Step 6

Place pieces of felt or other soft material under the base of the amplifier and subwoofer. This will eliminate the vibration generated by vibration.

Step 7

Install the fasteners and secure them with the bolts. Then screw the amplifier and subwoofer enclosures to the mountings.

Step 8

Connect the audio wires first to the amplifier and then to the subwoofer.

Step 9

Carefully disguise the wiring under the interior trim. It is best to do this through the roof of the car, as in this case the risk of external factors affecting the wiring is minimal. Install plastic ties along the entire length of the wiring at the same distance from each other. Secure the wires with double-sided tape.

Step 10

Reinstall the radio tape recorder, connect the battery and test the audio system.
