Active speakers have their own amplifier, so connecting them to a subwoofer is quite laborious and requires an individual approach. In this regard, the compatibility of the devices is initially checked, and after that the process of combining them is carried out.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine if your existing subwoofer can be connected to powered speakers. To work together, both audio devices must have dual stereo output and power channels. Otherwise, your venture will not be crowned with success. It should be noted that active speakers do not need additional software when connecting a subwoofer to them directly.
Step 2
Purchase an audio cable "pigtail" with a double RGB connector, which is popularly called a "tulip", at the radio market or in a specialized acoustics store. In this case, on the second side, the cable should be represented by bare wires.
Step 3
Connect RPG wires to speakers and subwoofer. The active speakers are connected through the "tulip", and the subwoofer - through a special jack for connecting passive speakers. In this case, it is necessary to observe the polarity | R | L || R | L |, otherwise the system will not function. If the subwoofer's connection channel is not a “latch” type, but a “cinch” connector, then a double audio cable with double RGD connectors at both ends is used.
Step 4
Connect the subwoofer to the mains, while the active speakers will work in passive mode. Otherwise, if the speakers are powered, a conflict of amplifying systems may occur, which will lead to the background of sound reproduction or failure of the acoustic devices.
Step 5
Connect the subwoofer to a personal computer through a special output and check the performance of the acoustics. If the sound does not appear, then go to the “Volume settings” or “Mixer settings” menu and check the correspondence of the sound playback devices specified in them, as well as other volume parameters. You can also check the compliance of the sound drivers in the "System Properties" - "Device Manager" section.
