Many vehicles do not provide a standard location for a whip antenna, or the antenna is not installed. In this regard, active car antennas, which have small dimensions and are available for installation in the cabin on the windshield, have become very popular.

How to connect an active antenna

It is necessary

  • - car;
  • - active antenna;
  • - capacitor;
  • - choke;
  • - adapter.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect the active antenna to the standard output. To do this, first of all, install a special adapter on it. It can be found in automotive stores. Solder the two outputs of the capacitor and inductor together. This pin is required to connect the antenna. Solder the second lead of the capacitor to the central core of the antenna that you plan to connect to the radio.

Step 2

Solder a wire for + 12V power to the second output of the choke. Next, pay attention to the insulation, for this, connect the plus from the yellow wire, the power to which is supplied when the ignition is turned on, to the antenna through the + 12V choke. Connect it to the radio tape recorder using a capacitor.

Step 3

Use another option to turn on the active antenna. You will need the same parts for this. Put a heat-insulating tube on the choke and on the condenser, insert this structure into the plug. Solder the center core. Then solder the shield braiding wires. Fasten the second connector, do not forget to first put on the wire its counterparts.

Step 4

Connect the wires from the radio to the antenna according to the following order. Yellow wire to permanent plus, regardless of where the ignition switch is located. Connect the red wire to the ignition lock terminal in which a plus appears at the moment the key is turned. You can find it using a tester. The black wire is ground, connect it to the body. The blue or white-blue wire must be connected to an active antenna, to the plus.

Step 5

Connect the orange wire to the light switch terminal. Or you can connect it to another terminal on which voltage appears at the moment the car's side lights are turned on. Connect the yellow-black wire to the wire of the car Hands-Free kit. If this kit is missing, do not connect anywhere.
