In addition to following the safety rules for using this electrical appliance, it must be washed properly. But what to do if you don't have any special cleaning products for household appliances at hand or there is simply no money to buy them? Home remedies like baking soda, vinegar and lemon will help!

The principle of all methods described below is cleaning the inside of the microwave with steam. If you don't even have baking soda (the cheapest remedy) on hand, just put a liter jar of water in the microwave, turn on the oven to maximum heat and let the water boil for 5-10 minutes, after which do not open the oven door for about 15 minutes. After that, you can wipe the inner walls with a soft cloth or a regular sponge and most of the dirt will be removed.

Note! The main reason for microwave contamination is splashes of fat and other liquids that form during boiling, therefore, to protect the oven from them, use a special mesh lid or glass saucepans with lids.

Microwave cleaning with lemon or citric acid

Pour 200-300 ml of water into a glass, mug or ordinary liter jar, squeeze the juice of one lemon there. Finely chop the lemon zest or grate on a coarse grater and also put in a jar. After that, put the jar with the resulting mixture in the microwave and boil the water for several minutes. After such a bath, fat will come off the walls much easier.

If you don't have lemon, use powdered citric acid.

Cleaning the microwave with vinegar

Do the same as above, but instead of lemon, use vinegar (about 2 tablespoons of regular vinegar or 1 teaspoon of concentrated essence) in half a liter of water.

Be careful! Warm the vinegar solution in the microwave with the window open, and after cleaning the stove, thoroughly ventilate the room.

After the dirt has been removed with a sponge or cloth, rinse all surfaces of the microwave with clean water.

Cleaning the microwave with baking soda

Dissolve a tablespoon of baking soda in half a liter of water and boil the resulting solution in a jar or bowl as described above. Wait 5 minutes and wipe the inside of the microwave thoroughly.

Old dirt from the walls can also be washed off with a slurry of soda and water.

Remember that when using any tool, it is important not to overdo it with heat, so as not to damage the device. Also, do not rub the oven too hard, use abrasives. Remember, the easiest way to clean your microwave is to remove grease stains right away.
