Camcorders have long ceased to be an attribute of only professionals and are widely used to create home video archives. The video captured by the camera is usually copied to a computer for further processing or burning to DVDs.

It is necessary

  • - data cable;
  • - camcorder drivers.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect the camcorder from which you want to transfer video to the computer using the data cable. Insert one end of it (usually flat and small) into the camera connector, and the other, marked or with a USB icon, into the USB port of the computer, using a USB extension cable if necessary. If necessary, install the camcorder drivers, which usually come with the camera and are supplied in the form of CDs.

Step 2

Wait until the computer detects the video camera connected to it. After the "Autorun" window appears, read all possible options for actions on the video camera files. Double click on "Open" or click once on this inscription and on the Ok button in the "Autostart" window.

Step 3

Open the “Videos” folder or another folder that may be associated with video files (the folder names differ for different brands of camcorders) in the browser window of folders and files located on the camera's drive. Select one or more files. For the convenience of selecting multiple video files, press the Shift or Ctrl key.

Step 4

Select files by clicking on them with the mouse. If you press Shift, then by clicking on the first file and then on the last, you will mark all the files that are in between the two. If you hold down Ctrl, you can click on the files arbitrarily.

Step 5

Press Ctrl + C on the keyboard to copy the selected files, or click on one of the files with the right mouse button or touchpad once. In the drop-down menu, select "Copy". Open the folder on your computer where you want to place the video. Paste the video by pressing Ctrl + V or click on an empty space in the folder with the right mouse button or touchpad and select "Paste" from the context menu.

Step 6

If for some reason you do not want to occupy the clipboard, reduce the window with the selected files and simply drag them to the desktop, then move them to the directory you need on your computer.

Step 7

After the video transfer is complete, disable the camera in "Safely Remove Hardware and Disks" located on the taskbar of your PC.
