Surely every home has its own family video archive, which captures all the important, and not so, moments of family life. The wedding, the birth of children, their first steps, going to first grade and so on are filmed with a video camera. However, most of the footage is in old VHS videotapes that have become obsolete. During the development of computers, such cassettes become completely unnecessary, cumbersome and have no comparison in terms of data storage volume with DVD disks and hard drives. But, of course, no one will throw them away, because practically all life is filmed on them. Therefore, it becomes necessary to digitize the VHS format and then store video materials either on a computer's hard drive or on CD / DVD discs. You can, of course, contact the appropriate company for digitization, but why pay money when you can do it yourself.

Step 1
First of all, you need to make sure that you have a video capture card (TV tuner) and set it up accordingly. In extreme cases, we carry out the installation by installing the board inside the computer case, installing the drivers. Perhaps you will have an external tuner that plugs into the USB connector, then just plug it into the USB port. Next, we connect the VCR to the board. It all depends on the type of board, so you cannot give an exact indication. After connecting to the board, we install the video capture software - it usually comes in the bundle - or we download it from the manufacturer's website. We turn on the videotape and the recording program. In the program interface we press “start recording or“start recording, at the end, be sure to press “stop. Now two options are possible, it all depends on the type of software used. The first is saving to hard disk, the second is direct recording to DVD media. It is better to save it to your hard disk, and optionally perform video editing, add an inscription, etc.
Step 2
The next step is to burn the video to DVD media using the Nero program. Launch Nero, select "Create Data DVD", or Nero Express. We follow the instructions of the program, select the video material, the path to the media, click "Start" and wait until the copying to DVD is completed. It is advisable to choose a low data recording speed, although it will take more time, it will provide error-free and high-quality recording to DVD media. Now you don't have to worry about the safety of your family archive, and moreover, there will be more shelf space.
