Camera mileage - There is no "official" definition for this term, but it refers to the number of frames taken with the camera. The most worn-out resource on good cameras is the shutter, it deteriorates the fastest. Professional cameras have more resources, while amateur ones have less. Information about the number of captured frames is in the meta file, which can be viewed using special programs, but not always.

Instructions
Step 1
For Nikon and Pentax cameras, all information about how many times the camera has clicked the shutter is stored in a special exif file. To view it, you just need to find a program that can read such files and decrypt them. It is not difficult, for example Opanda EXIF or ShowExif will do, there are other applications. They are all small and simple. The program will need to open the image that was last captured with the camera. In the properties displayed by the application, there will be a parameter "Total Number of Shutter Releases", opposite which a numerical value is indicated - this is the mileage of the camera.
Step 2
Canon manufacturers have not decided exactly whether to support the exif format, so you can find out all the ins and outs about some cameras using meta-files, but about some not. If the camera, whose mileage you are interested in, does not support the ability to find out the number of frames taken, you have two ways. The first is to carefully examine the camera. Most likely, if it was actively used, it will be noticeable in appearance. Or you can give the camera to a service center, where they will be able to determine the age of the camera, this method is more reliable and more accurate.
Step 3
When it comes to an Olympus camera, the approach is pretty tricky. If you do not know, it is impossible for anything to guess how the mileage is checked at the camera. It will take a few steps. Turn on the camera first. Then open the memory card compartment. After that, press two buttons simultaneously, the first "play" (in some models "menu"), the second "ok". Then you need to press the buttons up, down, left, right in turn. Press the shutter button and then up again. This sequence of actions will let you know how many shots the camera snapped.
