The shutter of any camera has its own resource and gradually wears out. Simpler cameras have less mileage than professional cameras. How to find out the mileage of your camera? Let's take a look at two photo giants as an example: Nikon and Canon.

Step 1
All metadata about snapshots is encrypted. It is impossible to view them simply by looking at the document properties. We'll have to use special programs. Moreover, for each manufacturer of cameras you need to look for their own program.

Let's start with Nikon. You can use ShowExif to view the metadata. It weighs less than 1Mb and does not require installation, which is very convenient. Just run the program. In the left window, specify the path to the folder with the latest photos. On average, the photos themselves will appear. Choose the last one. All metadata about this snapshot will be shown in the right window. Among them, almost at the very end, find the line "Total Number of Shutter Releases". The number in this line is the number of the last shutter release. If it says 50, then your mileage is 50 frames. If it says 23824, it means that the shutter of your device clicked exactly the same number of times.
Step 3
As for Canon, things are more complicated. Most people recommend contacting a service center with cameras of this brand. They claim that only there it is possible to determine the mileage of the camera. However, there is a chance to find out the metadata on your own using the EOS Info program. The program interface is almost the same as ShowExif. However, it should be borne in mind that the program can only read data on some Canon cameras. There is also a chance to get meta data via ShowExif. Sometimes it works. Apparently, it is difficult to come to a concrete conclusion here. And it's better to go to the service center with a camera and get accurate data on the mileage of your camera.
