Step 1
IMEI is displayed on the screen of any phone after dialing the standard service combination * # 06 #. The code is a 15-digit number written on the body of the device under the battery. The number is also indicated on the box from the device, on a sticker with a barcode. All three indicators must match. After purchasing the phone, it is advisable to write down this code separately and save it on a piece of paper, so that in case of theft, contact the police with it.
Step 2
When contacting law enforcement agencies, indicate in your application the IMEI recorded or indicated on the box. All specified data are sent to telecom operators to check the use of the fixed device by other persons.
Step 3
After leaving your application, periodically find out about the phone search results. If there is no response from the police for a long time, and the search has dragged on for a long time, demand an official response from the mobile operator, which will testify to the measures taken. Do not forget to make regular calls to the department, so that your case does not stale, and someone is engaged in it, because often such losses are forgotten, and statements are lost.
Step 4
In reality, this code is rarely tracked, a stolen device by number is found only in rare cases. It is also highly likely that the IMEI will be replaced by the new owner of the phone - the operation is easily carried out for a small fee in service centers, and on older models, replacement can be done at home. Recently, however, mobile device manufacturers have been improving the degree of protection of the code, and therefore its replacement is becoming more difficult and expensive.
