Sometimes it happens that the computer may malfunction, freeze, shut down involuntarily or "slow down" due to the hard disk. Such "glitches" can even lead to a complete loss of data, which, of course, is a tragedy for any owner of a personal computer. Flashing the hard drive can save you from such troubles. It is carried out with the help of programs that are abundant on the Internet, and even a semi-literate user can produce it.
Instructions
Step 1
First, determine the cause of the hard drive malfunction, or rather, what exactly does not suit you in its work. It can be unreadable disk tracks or constant freezing, long processing of information or too noisy computer operation. Overheating can also be caused by a malfunctioning hard drive.
Step 2
Download the firmware from a disk or flash drive. A long text in English will appear (it is not necessary to read it), press Esc and you will be taken to the main menu. Select your hard disk number under the required letter and wait. The process of flashing the hard drive will begin.
Step 3
While flashing the disk, do not turn off the computer's power and do not reboot via Ctrl + Alt + Delete. When the firmware process is completed, the computer will turn off by itself, or the message "Press any key" will appear. If there are connected disks, they must be disconnected before flashing them, because they may interfere with flashing.
Step 4
Write the image (iso) of the firmware program and boot from it. The program will offer to flash the hard drive in three versions - A / B / C (for different hard drives). Take a good look at your hard disk number. Be sure to turn off other hard drives. After completing the firmware process, the computer turns itself off.
Step 5
Save the necessary data on removable media before flashing, because after flashing, most likely, all information on the hard disk will be lost. That is, physically they will remain, but the controller on the hard drive will think that the hard drive is empty and, most likely, not even formatted. Then, after the firmware, simply discard all the necessary information back.
Step 6
If you are not confident in your abilities, contact the professionals from those. support or take your computer to a certified service center. This is an elementary, but at the same time very delicate work, and if you take one wrong step, you can simply lose your hard drive.
