The Windows 7 operating system brought users not only fast and stable performance, but also several unpleasant moments. One is that Windows Seven requires at least 15 GB of free space on the system partition of the hard drive to properly install. Add to that a package of essential software needed by almost every user, and you have over 30GB. Windows XP, for example, required only 10-15 GB to work properly. As a result, there was a problem with expanding the local disk.
Necessary
- Windows 7 installation disc
- Paragon Partition Magic
Instructions
Step 1
If you haven't installed the Windows 7 operating system yet, you're in luck. You can resize the system local drive prior to installation. Wait for the moment when the installation program reaches the point of selecting a local disk. Click "Disk Setup", select the desired partition and click "Delete".
Step 2
Click the Create button and specify the future size of the local disk. Select this section and click Next.
Step 3
If you need to change the size of the disk after installing the operating system, then your actions will be different. Install Paragon Partition Magic. Run it and select Power User Mode. Go to the "Wizards" tab and select "Change section".
Step 4
Specify the section you want to resize. Then specify the areas from which the free space will be separated. Remember that you can only expand partitions by using the unallocated space of other partitions on this hard disk. If you do not need to perform other operations with the hard disk, then click "Apply". The disk resizing process can take several hours.
