There are more and more situations when there are several laptops, desktop computers or other devices that can connect to the network in a house or apartment. In this regard, the issue of creating a single local network capable of uniting all the above-described devices becomes relevant. To make it easier to work with the network, it is customary to use a router or router.
Necessary
- router
- network cables
Instructions
Step 1
To avoid the hassle of creating a local network, you need to choose the right router. You need to proceed from its capabilities, as well as the number of devices connected to it.
Step 2
Go to the settings of the router and configure it to work with a local network. To do this, activate and open all LAN ports, and be sure to provide the router with your own static IP address. Ideally, it should be 192.168.0.1 because this will make it easier to configure computers on a future network.
Step 3
Connect computers, laptops, or other devices to the router. To do this, you need network cables. Insert one connector into the LAN port of the router, and the other into a free slot on the network card.
Step 4
Open your local network settings on your computer. Find the line "Internet Protocol TCP / IP". In the "IP address" field, enter the numbers that differ from the router's IP address only in the last item. In the fields "Preferred DNS server" and "Default gateway", be sure to specify the IP address of the router. When entering addresses on other computers, remember that they must not be repeated. Otherwise, the local network on some devices will not work.
