Probably, we will not be mistaken if we say with confidence that more than half of computer users have thought about creating their own local network at least once. The reasons for this can be completely different: and the ability to play various games with friends, and the need to quickly exchange information between network users, and share the same Internet connection.

It is necessary

  • Wi-Fi router
  • switch
  • network cables

Instructions

Step 1

Wi-Fi or cable connection.

If all future network users have laptops at their disposal and are not very scattered geographically, then there is the possibility of creating a Wi-Fi network. If this does not suit you, then the only solution is to create a cable LAN. Let's consider both options below.

Step 2

Wi-Fi network.

To create an access point, we need one computer and a router. If you are planning to simply create a single network, then your actions will be as follows:

- Put a password on the router.

- Create a Wi Fi connection and set a password for it.

If you plan to use a single Internet connection, then you need to configure the router according to the attached instructions and the recommendations of your provider.

Step 3

Wired network.

You will need a switch and some network cables. Install the switch in a place convenient for everyone. It is desirable that it be reliably protected. You need to choose a switch based on the ratio: one free slot in the switch is equal to one computer in the future network. Now connect all computers or laptops to the switch. In the network connection settings of each computer, you must specify identical IP addresses and subnet masks. For example, you can enter the following IPs: 192.0.0.1, 192.0.0.2, 192.0.0.3, and so on. Remember that IP addresses must never be the same. It is better to leave the default subnet mask: 255.255.255.0.

Step 4

To ensure an easy exchange of information, apply the network settings as a "home group" and allow data transfer within it.
