The cashless payment system is becoming an increasingly popular method of payments and money storage. This is not surprising, since it is quite convenient to carry a light compact card instead of a heavy wallet. In addition, you can forget about those cases when the buyer has to find a trifle due to the lack of change from the seller. However, there is one small difficulty in using a plastic card - its PIN code is often forgotten by its owners.
The procedure for assigning a pin code
The client receives the PIN code immediately upon receipt of the plastic card itself at the bank. The secret password is created by a special computer program that randomly generates a numerical sequence of 4 digits, after which this password is printed on paper, which is placed in a special sealed envelope. In the process of creating a pin code, not a single bank employee knows what is in the envelope. Therefore, this envelope must be hidden in a safe place or the code must be rewritten to another medium and remembered. You can remember the pin code by associating it, for example, with a specific date. Thus, even forgetting the password, you can remember it thanks to some association.
What should I do if I forgot my PIN code?
In the event that the password is still forgotten, it will not work just to call the technical support of the bank at the phone number indicated on the card in order to restore the pin code. If the client forgets the password and loses the envelope, the card will have to be reissued. It is not possible to restore the pin code in the bank, since no bank employee has such information, moreover, the database with passwords from plastic cards simply does not exist. This is necessary to maintain the confidentiality and security of using a plastic card.
Nevertheless, it is worth remembering that you can use a plastic card even if you forget the code. Some banks allow you to withdraw cash at their cash desk upon presenting the card and passport itself; a pin code for such an operation is not required. Also, certain shops for non-cash payment of goods require only a plastic card without confirmation of the code. In addition, you can pay in online stores knowing only the card number and the code indicated on the back of the card. Sometimes card confirmation is required, for example, by SMS.
One way or another, but someday you may need to carry out operations with a plastic card, for which a pin code is required. If it is not possible to remember the password or the location of the envelope, you must contact the bank and then apply for a new plastic card. The card will be, respectively, with a new number, validity period and pin code. In most banks, you will have to pay for the re-issue of the card and wait 1-2 weeks. If there is money left on the old card, it will be transferred to the account of the new one.
