Poor photo quality always spoils the first impression, but such a defect can be easily eliminated. If you need to sharpen a photo, you can apply several methods using special editing programs.
Lack of sharpness or its absence primarily indicates poor quality of the photo and worsens the overall impression of the picture, even the most interesting one. Blurred images may occur, for example, due to a shutter speed that is too fast or slow, the camera is not focusing correctly, or the lens is not sharp enough. This problem can be quickly resolved.
Increase Sharpness and Contrast
Sharpening can be done using the most well-known photo editing program - Photoshop. So, first of all, you need to open the original image in the program, then create a duplicate of the layer in which you will work. Open Layer, then select Create dublicate of layer. Note that the exact same image appears in the right window with layers.
Next, you need to press the key combination Shift + Ctrl + U or execute the command "Image + Correction + Desaturate". Your photo will turn black and white. Then you need to swap these layers in places. To do this, you need to drag the top image to the bottom of the screen with your mouse. Next, set the opacity of this layer to 50%, and set the blending mode of the layer at the top from the "Normal" category to "Overlay".
If you don't like the result, you can try some other blending mode, for example, "Soft Light", or simply reduce the fill percentage of the lower layer to 50. After that, you need to merge the layers - this can be done using the Shift + Ctrl key combination + E.
It should be clarified that the described editing method is not suitable for all photos. It all depends on the specified parameters of the original image.
Sharpening contour type
This is perhaps the easiest way to sharpen your photos. You need to repeat the first step, that is, create a duplicate of the layer. Then execute the command "Filter + Sharpness + Unsharp Mask". So, in the window that appears, you need to set the parameters suitable for your photo.
But keep in mind that you should not overdo it, the image should not have too sharp outlines. Now all that remains is to merge the two layers and save the photo.
Color contrast as a way to sharpen photos
In Photoshop, open the original image and duplicate the layer. Then change the Blending Mode of the top layer to Soft Light. Then select the combination "Filter + Others + Color Contrast" and set the required parameters in the window that opens.
The fourth method is also no less popular - sharpening with the help of the "Smart sharpening" mode. First create a new layer, then in "Filter" select "Sharpness and Smart Sharpening". Set the required parameters. All that remains is to reduce the noise in the photo. This can be done by executing the "Filter + Noise + Reduce Noise" command.
Of course, there are other photo editing programs like ForceVision, Irfan View, Zoner Photo Studio Free, and Photo! Editor, however, the algorithm for sharpening with them is almost similar to the algorithm in Photoshop. Therefore, you can choose the most convenient program for yourself and correct any shortcomings in the photo yourself.
