A cell phone, like a computer, consists of two main parts: hardware and software (firmware). The quality of a phone's performance depends on both of them. With their shortcomings, various disruptions in the operation of the device are possible: spontaneous shutdown, freezing, poor connection, unstable operation of applications, and others. But if the hardware part can only be fixed by a specialist in a specially equipped service center, then an ordinary user can work on the software part, namely, replace the firmware of his phone. Cell phone manufacturer Nokia allows its customers to update their phone software themselves.

Instructions
Step 1
Download by selecting your phone model from the table and install the free Nokia Ovi Suite software from the Nokia website on your computer. The program will install the drivers required for your phone. Connect your phone to the computer with a cable, when the phone asks for "Select a mode" select PC Suite. When the phone establishes a connection with the computer, an image of your phone with its name will appear at the bottom of the program. Before flashing, save the data from your phone to your computer. Turn off your antivirus software. Under the battery, look at the product code of the phone. Each country has its own product codes. To make sure that the phone is not "gray", that is, it was officially imported into the Russian Federation for sale, call the Nokia Care hotline 8-800-700-22-22 and tell them the IMEI of the phone. If the phone turns out to be "gray", it will not be possible to flash it by official means.
Step 2
In Nokia Ovi Suite, select Tools, then Software Updates. The program will show the phone's firmware version and, if there is a newer one, it will offer to update it. Select the one you want from the list of possible updates. Make an update. If the phone has the latest software version, then instead of updating it will be offered to reinstall the firmware. This operation is useful if there is a problem with the phone. If you want the program to track the appearance of new firmware itself and download them, put a tick in the appropriate box in "Tools - Options - General".
Step 3
Instead of Nokia Ovi Suite, you can use Nokia Software Updater after installing Nokia PC Suite.
