Panasonic recently announced the imminent release of a new lens. It is an updated version of the model, which has been on the shelves of many stores since September 2009, up to modern requirements.
As with previous models, the lens optics have not undergone significant changes: they still include seven elements in five separate groups. At the same time, in order to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion, two lens elements have a certain aspherical shape.
Small dimensions, as well as a convenient equivalent total focal length (it is equal to 40 mm) make the updated lens one of the best contenders for using it as a permanent standard lens. Moreover, the lens itself has become much lighter than the previous model: 87 grams versus 100. With all these advantages, it has not only a metal mount, but the tube itself is made of metal. The new version of Lumix supports the traditional automatic focusing system of the Contrast AF range. The lens differs from its predecessor with a new multilayer coating, which effectively reduces the likelihood of unwanted flare and flare.
