Translucent screens are sometimes installed in the showcases of communication salons and other stores. From inside the room, a projector is directed at such a screen. This creates the illusion of a flat image hanging in the air, behind which the three-dimensional interior of the store is visible.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a sheet of regular plexiglass. Start sanding one of its surfaces with the finest sandpaper you can find. Check it periodically for transparency - it shouldn't be completely lost. The objects behind the sheet should still be visible through the sheet. Treat the entire sheet evenly so that its transparency is the same in all areas.
Step 2
If the shop window consists of two glass panes, place a translucent screen between them. Place it vertically, for example by hanging it on two sturdy chains. Make sure it's almost invisible from a distance.
Step 3
Hang a conventional DLP video projector on the ceiling opposite the screen in the store. Point it at a slight downward angle so that it does not shine in the eyes of people walking past the shop window, and thus almost does not give itself out. Take care of the cooling of the device, do not cover it with anything. Do not install it outdoors.
Step 4
Use the projector's Geometric Distortion Compensation settings, make extra adjustments. The image on the screen should be almost perfectly rectangular - this will make it much more difficult to guess that it is being projected onto it. For the same purpose, flawlessly adjust the image size and focus - individual pixels should be visible (this looks more high-tech).
Step 5
Write to a USB flash drive a series of JPEG images with descriptions of products sold in your store. Insert the USB stick into your DVD player with USB port. Start automatic display of images in a ring.
Step 6
Go outside the store with the projector remote control and see the result. To make the image look more natural, more like hanging in the air, adjust the brightness and contrast from the remote control. You may have to adjust these parameters several times during the day as the brightness of natural light changes.
