As with any battery-powered device, the iPod requires periodic charging in order to continue to function. There are several ways to charge your iPod.
Instructions
Step 1
The first is to use a power adapter called the iPod Power Adapter, and the second is to charge using the USB or FireWire ports on your computer. Separately, it should be noted that iPod Touch (second and earlier generations) and iPod Nano (fourth and earlier generations) do not support FireWire.
Step 2
To charge your player using the AC adapter, connect your iPod to the adapter using the supplied USB or FireWire cable. Connect the adapter to an electrical outlet using the appropriate cord.
Step 3
Follow the steps below to charge the player using a computer. Check if the computer is turned on and if it is in sleep mode. Then connect your iPod to the USB or FireWire connector on your computer. Check if the ports are working. If you are using USB, connect the player to the connectors located on the system unit - they have high power. Keyboard ports are generally low power.
Step 4
If you are using a laptop to charge, check to see if it is plugged in. Also, make sure that the lid is open, otherwise the laptop may be in sleep mode, and therefore, charging will not take place.
Step 5
If you are using a FireWire port to charge from a computer, make sure it is powered. Almost all of them are such, but if the port has only four outputs, then it will not charge from it.
Step 6
It takes about 4 hours to fully charge your iPod. It takes about 3 hours for the 80% level. You can recharge your device without waiting for the battery to drain completely. Use Safely Remove Hardware when disconnecting your iPod from your computer.
