Choose a mixing console based on the purpose for which you plan to use it. These devices are divided into variety, DJ, studio, terrestrial and universal. Each of them has its own special characteristics, which are selected for a specific use. Universal mixing consoles can be used with a stretch for each of the activities presented. Determine the number of channels you need. For example, two or three channel inputs and one microphone input will be enough for a DJ to hold discos. The interface of the available inputs is equally important. Choose the mixing console, the interface inputs of which will be as complete as possible for the equipment you have. For example, most professional microphones are XLR, but it would be nice to be able to connect to a mixing console and a jack microphone.

Examine the connector interface for the remote signal output. Choose a remote that matches the hardware you have. As a rule, XLR is used in expensive models, jack is used in more budget models. But they can also be duplicated.

Decide on the functionality you need. Examine the equalization controls on the console. Equalizer can be either graphic or parametric. Also, the console may have additional effect controls that affect its cost.
