Step 1
Before installing the kinescope in the TV, it is advisable to check it. In the store, this check is carried out on a special test bench. Often, many malfunctions can be identified if you use a special device that operates on the network and is connected to the terminals of the kinescope. If you are checking a CRT that is already inserted into the TV, remove the panel from the CRT base.
Step 2
A little about working with the device. For example, if you check the condition of the insulation between the filament and the cathode, then if it is working properly, you will see how only one light comes on. And if there is a short circuit, two lights will be on.
Step 3
If the check of the insulation between the filament and the cathode did not reveal a malfunction, turn the switch of the device to position 2 and determine the state of the insulation between the grid and the cathode. If the insulation is normal, you will see only one electrode of the neon lamp glowing.
Step 4
Often, damage to the kinescope occurs already during the operation of the TV. Such malfunctions are extremely difficult to detect, because poor image quality may be absent, or it may be the result of a malfunction of the TV unit, and not a malfunction of the kinescope. If we talk about kinescope malfunctions, then some of them can be identified by the corresponding signs.
Step 5
For example, if the screen has no glow, most likely it is most often due to a violation of the vacuum. Check the state of the vacuum by the appearance of the mirror coating located on the neck of the kinescope near the cathode, it turns white if the vacuum is bad. If you see a coating of the usual color, it may be due to the loss of emission from the CRT cathode.
