Step 1
One of the criteria to look out for when choosing a camcorder is the recording format. There are several recording formats: VHS, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Video 8, HI 8. Modern digital camcorders use the following recording formats: micro MV, Mpeg 4, Digital 8, DVD and mini DV.
Step 2
Having chosen the recording format of the camcorder, proceed to solving optical problems. Sony in its products uses the development of such optical companies as Carl Zeiss, whose optics have been held in high esteem for more than a century. However, it will be possible to check the quality of the alignment and grinding of the lenses only during the first video shooting.

An important criterion for choosing a video camera is optical zoom or lens magnification. The choice of this parameter of the video camera depends on the tasks that will be assigned to it. For example, when filming children on the playground or in the pool, you don't have to use the 30x zoom, but for shooting an abandoned castle, this option is just right.

Another desirable condition for the purchased camcorder is the presence of an image stabilizer. There are two types of stabilizers: optical (keeps the picture from small vibrations) and electronic (also keeps the captured image in the frame, but at the expense of image clarity). An optical image stabilizer is considered preferable, but it is more expensive.

Each camcorder is characterized by a certain number and size of pixels. The size of the matrix is indicated in inches: the larger the size, the more sensitive the matrix, which means the better the shooting and, therefore, the more expensive the video camera. It is not recommended to purchase a device with a matrix size less than 1/4.
Step 6
An additional convenient option is the viewfinder. This function is used for real-time viewing of the footage.
