Think about the conditions under which you will use your camcorder. If you need to fix it while recording amateur clips, choose a tabletop tripod. It is small and light, you can carry it with you along with the camera even every day, waiting for the occasion when an interesting story comes across that you want to capture. For more planned, solid, professional work, a floor-standing construction is suitable for you.

When choosing a floor tripod, imagine at what maximum and minimum level the camera should be. The minimum is important if you want to shoot in macro mode or just need a low angle for any other creative challenge. The highest point should fix the video camera at the operator's eye level.

Another of the most important parameters is the load capacity of the tripod. It should correspond to the weight of your technique, or even better - slightly exceed it.

The strength of the structure depends on the material from which the tripod is made. For a compact hobby camera that you won't be using in extreme conditions, you can buy a plastic tripod. It is inferior to other models in strength, but wins in terms of lightness and price. Aluminum tripods are much more stable and durable. In addition, they are quite suitable for carrying and do not cost very much. This option can be called a compromise. If you are on a budget, buy a tripod made of carbon fiber or steel. They are very durable, and at the same time carbon fiber is light enough and capable of absorbing microvibrations.

The weight of the product is also influenced by its design. The monopod is much easier to carry with you - it consists of just one rod, which is installed on the ground or any other suitable support. This tripod does not need to be disassembled and assembled for a long time. However, it is less stable and comfortable than the tripod. It is additionally supported by three "legs", and the central boom can be extended upward, increasing the maximum possible shooting height.

The stability of the tripod can be increased by the material from which the footed tips are made. The rubber ones come in handy when filming indoors with a smooth hard floor. The spikes will secure the tripod in soft soil. If you plan to shoot in a variety of conditions - both outdoors and indoors - choose a tripod with a combined tip type.

A secondary characteristic that also needs to be considered is the color of the tripod. Light metal tripods can reflect bright light, which means that glare will hit the subject. Therefore, when working in bright artificial or daylight, a black tripod will be more convenient.
