There is a growing popularity of 3D TVs, which in most cases are used to view finished 3D films. Is it possible to create a 3D video yourself for viewing on such a TV and how to make this video comfortable for viewing? This is possible, but requires software to work with video and the ability to shoot video with two devices simultaneously, for example, a pair of two cameras.
Necessary
- - 2 video files shot with a pair in good quality (one from the left point of shooting (angle), the other from the right);
- - program for working with video Nero Vidio 11 or similar;
- - a TV or monitor with the function of viewing 3D video in vertical or horizontal anamorphic stereo format for viewing the resulting video.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the program and create a new HDTV quality movie.
Step 2
We load video files from the right and left angles into the movie. We place them on the video sequence scale for synchronous playback, as shown in the illustration. In this example, the right and left views are shot in different proportions and at different resolutions. It is advisable not to allow this when shooting, but this is not a fatal hindrance.
Step 3
For the video from the angle that is located above, set the transparency parameter called Haze = 50%. This will visually adjust both views to scale and location in the overall picture. If the views have a mismatch in time, then they should be synchronized. For accurate correction, it is best to select a well-defined subject with the fastest moving speed. Using the transparency of the upper video, we shift the leading view backward along the timeline in one frame increments until we achieve the coincidence of the phases of movement of both views. We cut off the excess ends on the time scale with an accuracy of 1 frame, if they do not coincide.
Step 4
Let's zoom in a little on both views, keeping the proportions. This will allow you to shift the picture horizontally and at the same time not get empty edges in the overall picture. For a larger view, set the parameter Scale = 110%. For a different angle, select the scale so that the pictures match in size. If both views are shot with the same resolution, then simply set the Scale = 110% parameter as for the first view.
Step 5
For comfortable viewing of 3D video, it is necessary that all objects on the screen that fall on the edge of the screen visually look inside the TV and do not stick out at the viewer. This does not apply to objects in the center of the screen, they can fly in front of the TV screen, and this looks normal. To achieve this, let's set up the alignment of the angles. After reviewing the edited portion of the video, select one foreground object that is closest to the viewer and intersects on one of the four sides of the screen. Using the transparency of the upper image, using the X Position parameter, we shift the upper view towards the approach of the selected object with the image of the same object at a different angle to about half of full coincidence, not paying attention to the objects in the background.
Step 6
Proceed in the same way with the X Position parameter of the lower view. As a result, we get a complete overlay of the images of the selected object from the right and left views. This will make it possible to visually perceive this object on a 3D TV screen as if in the plane of the screen, and distant objects - in the depth of the screen. The Y position parameter allows you to adjust the alignment of objects in height, if there is a vertical shift.
Step 7
After that, you need to make sure that the Scale parameters were large enough and the views did not have to be shifted more than before the edge of the view image touched the edge of the overall picture. Otherwise, we will have a black box at the left or right edge of the screen. If this happens, then it is necessary to increase the value of the Scale parameters in both views and correct the alignment.
Step 8
In order for the sound recorded in two files of angles not to overlap and not create unnecessary interference, it is necessary to set the "Volume level" parameter to at least one of the angles, or even remove the audio channel from it.
Step 9
We transform 3D video into anamorphic stereo format.
This manual describes how to obtain a vertical anamorphic stereo format, with a left view from above. To obtain horizontal anamorphic stereo, the procedures are the same with the replacement of the transformations of the vertical parameters with the horizontal ones.
1. Bring the opacity back to the top view by setting Haze = 100%.
2. Compress both views vertically by half, setting the parameter Scale Vertically = half of the selected scale, without changing the Scale Horizontal value.
3. Move the views in the vertical direction by an amount = a quarter of the vertical size of the frame. For HDTV 720p this offset = 180. Lift the left view up by setting the Position Y = 180 (= 360 - 180). Move the right view downward by setting the Position parameter Y = 551, 2 (= 371, 2 + 180).
Step 10
By switching Nero Video to "View in full screen" mode and turning on the 3D mode on the monitor, you can already see the result in 3D. But due to the fact that the lower edge of the left view crawls out of its original dimensions when scaling, this extra edge will overlap the picture of the right view. So you need to cut the bottom edge.
Let's go back to normal mode. In the Effects Palette, on the Video Effect tab, in the Adjust section, find the Crop effect and apply it to the top left view. For the "Crop" effect with the value of the "Crop Bottom" parameter, we will select the required value so that when viewing in 3D mode in full screen, as described above, one view does not creep into another from above (the value is too high) or from the bottom (the value is underestimated) … In the illustration, this value was 16.8% with a vertical scale = 112.5%. If the scale were 55%, then the value of the parameter would be equal to 4.5%.
Step 11
By switching Nero Video to full screen view and enabling 3D mode on the monitor, you can view the result in 3D and evaluate the correctness of all the settings.
Step 12
To export the resulting video to a file, you must select a format and configure the profile parameters so that the resulting 3D video file is no worse in quality than the original files. Choose a location to save the video, set a file name and start exporting. After the file is recorded, it can be viewed on the screen of your 3D TV or monitor in real quality.
