After purchasing a home theater system, you need to arrange all the components correctly. Each room has its own acoustic capabilities, each person hears sounds differently. For these reasons, it is impossible to achieve a perfect placement. However, there are a few things to consider when setting up a home theater system in your home with maximum efficiency.

Step 1
Familiarize yourself with all the components of your home theater system. The system includes front left and right, rear left and right speakers, a center speaker, and a subwoofer. You will also need appropriate wires for each of the components and probably a stand or mount.
Step 2
Place the center speaker. It should be directly above or below the TV. You can install it at the very top, at the same distance from each front speaker. The installation height of the center speaker should be approximately the same as the distance between the front left and right speakers. The distance between the listener and the center speaker should be close to the distance between the listener and the front speakers.
Step 3
Place the front speakers. The right and left front speakers should be at the same distance from the listening area and the center speaker. All three speakers should be facing towards the listening area and positioned at the same distance from that area in an arc shape. Use a tape measure to determine the correct placement. Place the speakers at ear level with the seated listener.
Step 4
Arrange the rear speakers. These speakers should be level with or behind the listening area. Do not face them towards this area or place them at ear level of the seated listener. Precise positioning of these speakers can dramatically change the overall sound of your system. Experiment with different points in the room to find the best ones.
Step 5
Place the subwoofer in the desired position. The ideal location can vary from home to home, depending on the bass level you want. To find such a location, place the subwoofer in the main listening area and play the music. Walk around the room to find the best sounding spot. Once you find this place, place a subwoofer there.
