Mains inductions contribute to the appearance of a characteristic hum in sound-reproducing devices. This applies to both the mixing console and the guitar amp. Such noises can spoil all the aesthetic enjoyment of sound. To get rid of them, grounding is required.

Necessary

  • The wire
  • Self-tapping screws
  • Washers
  • Pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Metal rod

Instructions

Step 1

Open the electrical panel located in the staircase. Find where a lot of wires are connected. They are screwed to the body of the shield. It is this place that is grounded, with the help of it it is necessary to ground the guitar.

Step 2

Calculate the length of the wire that will be used for grounding. Run it from the place in your apartment where the guitar hookup equipment is located to the electrical box.

Step 3

Strip 2-3 cm at both ends of the wire. After that, divide the wire braid into 2 parts and insert a washer with a self-tapping screw between these ends. This is required for good electrical contact between the wire and the electrical panel. Twist the ends of the stripped wire around the self-tapping screw with a washer inserted between them.

Step 4

Screw the self-tapping screw into the selected place on the electrical panel. Screw in firmly, with a stop to secure it firmly. The wire is now grounded.

Step 5

Next, you need to connect the other end of the wire to the device to which the guitar is connected. Many devices have dedicated grounding points. They are usually marked with an appropriate icon or Ground (sometimes abbreviated to GND). If there is no special place, then the metal part of the case is suitable for grounding.

Step 6

Take the second piece of wire. As in the case of the first end, insert a self-tapping screw with a washer between the parts of the wire sheath and use the pliers to wrap it around the self-tapping screw. Now screw the self-tapping screw to the device. Grounding is ready.

Step 7

If you live in a private house, then grounding can be done using a metal rod. It is desirable that its length be at least two meters. Drive it near the house as deep as possible. To the part of the rod that remains at the top, screw the ground wire from the device. Grounding is ready.
