Very often, after a short use of a laptop with a permanently connected battery, the charge ceases to "hold". As a result, the operating time of the laptop without recharging is significantly reduced. But this trouble can be easily corrected at home and restored by yourself. Reduction will be discussed using the example of a nickel-metal hydride cell.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the number of cells in the battery. To do this, disassemble it with a knife, cutting it at a visible seam. Multiply the resulting number by 1, 2 - and find out the voltage in volts. Then solder a 21 W bulb to the pins of the series connected elements.

Step 2

Using a multimeter, measure the voltage of the light bulb, setting it to 20 V. If the values match, then the faulty battery controller is to blame for the inoperability of your laptop, and you will have to change it. If the voltage is below 20 V, then one or more faulty battery cells are to blame.

Step 3

Find out which items are defective. To do this, set the tester to 2000 mV and check each element. Mark those elements, the indicator of which is below 1, 1 V. Bring all the elements to a single voltage indicator, for example, to zero. To do this, solder a light bulb to each element and leave it for 8-10 hours.

Step 4

Charge the battery. This cannot be done with normal charging, so first raise the voltage a little with a light bulb and a laptop power supply, and then use a familiar charger. Repeat the procedure several times.

Step 5

If such "resuscitation" does not give positive results, replace all batteries. Cells with a capacity of 2100 mAh are perfect for this purpose. Remember that it is better to connect them into a chain not with a soldering iron, but by making the fastening devices connected to each other.

Step 6

If this does not work out, contact a certified service center for help. Alternatively, get a new battery for your laptop. But nevertheless, it will be more interesting, and even more useful, to squeeze everything possible from the old battery before throwing it out. So it's too early to grab your head, if the battery runs out quickly - everything is fixable.
