HTC phones are equipped with the function of connecting to wireless access networks of the Wi-Fi standard. To connect to the required network, you must enable the corresponding function of the device through the "Settings" menu. Also HTC are able not only to receive Wi-Fi, but also to distribute it, functioning as an access point.
Instructions
Step 1
To connect to a Wi-Fi network, go to the "Settings" section. It is accessible by pressing the menu button on the home screen of the device. Then go to the "Wireless networks" section of the appeared list of sections. If your phone is running Windows Phone, access to this item can be done through the section "Settings" - Wi-Fi.
Step 2
Move the Wi-Fi slider to the "On" position to activate the data transfer mode. After that, a list of access points available for use in the immediate vicinity of the device will appear on the screen. The closest points will be displayed at the top of the list.
Step 3
Select your network to connect by clicking on it. If necessary, enter the password for the network and click "OK". If the password was entered correctly, the connection to the network will start. As soon as the connection with the access point is established, you will see the connection indicator in the top panel of the device screen. The connection is complete and you can start using the Internet on your phone.
Step 4
If you want your HTC to do the tethering available on your SIM card, go to the Wireless & Networks - Router Settings section of the Settings menu. Among the proposed parameters, set the name of your future access point, which will be displayed on the screen of other devices when connected to it. In the "Security" section, enter the future password for the network you are creating. Once all the settings are made, click on the item "Mobile Wi-Fi router" to turn on the distribution of the Internet.
Step 5
Depending on the version of the operating system, the names of the menu items on the device may change. So, to create a Wi-Fi access point, you may need to go to the "USB tethering / access point" menu of the device or activate the Wi-Fi Hotspot section.
Step 6
After you have finished using the access point, do not forget to turn it off through the corresponding menu item, since its operation consumes a significant amount of charging the device.
