Microsoft Surface is a portable tablet computer manufactured by that company. Currently, two models of this device are presented, each of which has a number of distinctive features.
The main difference between the available Microsoft Surface tablet models is the use of two different CPUs. The most powerful device will be equipped with an Intel processor. This tablet will work under the operating system of Microsoft - Windows 8. Naturally, we are not talking about the mobile version of the OS designed for smartphones.
The second model of Microsoft Surface computer runs Windows RT. This tablet uses an ARM-based CPU. The tablet has a USB 2.0 port for connecting peripherals and external drives. The more powerful model will be equipped with a USB 3.0 interface. This will slightly increase the speed of processing information from external drives.
Despite the fact that both models of computers are endowed with touch screens with a diagonal of 10.6 inches, there is a huge difference between these screens. The model, working with an Intel CPU, has a matrix with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. Nowadays, it is not difficult to find tablets that support Full HD images. Unfortunately, this display is far from the new Retina series matrix presented by Apple.
The matrix of the younger model supports a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. To provide a high level of graphics, the tablet uses a Tegra 3 series graphics processor, endowed with four cores. It is important to note that in the more powerful model, the graphics accelerator function is performed by one of the cores of the Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor.
An interesting innovation inherent in the described tablets is a thin keyboard that acts as a protective cover. Unfortunately, the first tablets from Microsoft lacked 3G and LTE communication modules. To connect to the Internet, you can use four types of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.
