Even the most sensitive radio is useless in the absence of an antenna. Some of these fixtures are of a DIY design. The choice of antenna depends on the range in which it will work.
Instructions
Step 1
Refrain from making long outdoor antennas for detector receivers. It is difficult to install such an antenna in a city; moreover, it must in all cases be equipped with grounding and reliable lightning protection. Alternatively, connect the detector receiver to an amplifier. It will be possible to get by with a room antenna in the form of a piece of wire several meters long.
Step 2
Also use an indoor antenna to improve long, medium and short wave reception. Take an ordinary electrical outlet that is not plugged in anywhere. Connect one of its terminals to the antenna input of the receiver. Plug any extension cord that is not powered into this outlet. Fully unfold the extension cord itself. Under no circumstances connect the plug to the antenna socket of the receiver instead of the socket, as a person unfamiliar with the purpose of the installation may inadvertently plug this plug into the mains.
Step 3
For the manufacture of a television antenna of the meter range, take a special plug that does not require soldering. Do not use coaxial cable. Connect a piece of insulated wire about a meter long to the ring contact of the plug. Connect the same length to the pin of the plug. Connect the plug to the antenna socket of the TV, tune it to the desired channel, and then, by changing the position of the wires in space, achieve the best reception.
Step 4
Make an antenna of the decimeter range by connecting the ring contact of the plug to the pin through a ring of insulated wire. The diameter of the ring should be about 100 mm. Sometimes such an antenna works satisfactorily in the VHF range, sometimes even better than a specially designed antenna for operation in this range.
Step 5
To improve signal reception in the WiMax standard, connect the modem to the computer not directly, but through a USB extension cable. Take a metal bowl and equip it with a wooden bracket to secure the modem in the focus of its parabola. Secure the modem to the bracket with electrical tape. Aim the resulting design at the base station.
Step 6
In the absence of experience, refrain from building homemade antennas for powerful transmitters, as well as antennas equipped with amplifiers.
