It is unpleasant when the television antenna receives few programs, and even those in disgusting quality. It is especially offensive if the most interesting channels are caught the worst. Changing the orientation of the antenna, replacing it or supplementing it with an amplifier will help to solve the problem.
It is necessary
- - antenna amplifier and power supply unit for it;
- - antenna splitter;
- - 75 Ohm antenna cable;
- - ohmmeter;
- - soldering iron and soldering materials;
- - materials for sealing the hole in the wall.
- - antenna connectors;
- - antennas of various designs.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not use an indoor antenna if your home is equipped with a communal antenna. Install a special branching device (CRAB - consumer household cable splitter) and with its help bring the signal from the collective antenna to those of your TV sets that were previously operated with indoor antennas.
Step 2
If you cannot use the shared antenna, check if the frequency range of the indoor antenna matches the frequencies of the channels you are watching. For example, if you prefer decimeter channels, there is no point in trying to receive them with good quality using a meter antenna, and vice versa. Telescopic antennas allow not only changing the position of the knees, but also adjusting their length, and you should not think that they always need to be fully extended. The higher the channel frequency, the shorter they should be extended. Excessive length can worsen reception as well as insufficient, and it is best to select it empirically.
Step 3
Connect the indoor antenna to the TV not directly, but through a special antenna extension cable. This will allow her to move around the room. Find a position that provides the best reception. Sometimes it is useful to place a VCR with a tuner near the antenna and connect it to the TV with a long low-frequency cable. This will help to isolate from interference if its source (for example, a computer) is located near the TV.
Step 4
If you cannot improve reception by moving the indoor antenna, use an outdoor antenna. Place it on the wall opposite the TV center, protect it from atmospheric precipitation, seal the cable entry into the room. In a private house, the best place for an outdoor antenna is the roof. Never use an outdoor antenna if your home is not in the range of a lightning conductor.
Step 5
If you are in an area of poor reception of the telecentre signal, use an antenna with an amplifier. Having bought a set of an amplifier and an antenna compatible with it, fix the board on the two screws provided for it, and connect the coaxial cable to the board itself. On the opposite side, instead of the usual plug, connect to it a special one designed to supply the power supply voltage for the amplifier to the cable and at the same time prevent this voltage from entering the TV. This plug, along with the power supply, is included with the amplifier.
