Many owners of flashed Xbox consoles are faced with the problem of updating their device. The fact is that in this case, some of the STB's functions are blocked, which causes some inconvenience. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to carry out a series of operations that resemble a flashing.
Instructions
Step 1
Search the Internet and download two programs: DosFlash 16 for working with firmware and iXtreme firmware for a console patch. It is advisable to choose the most recent version, which contains the necessary updates for the Xbox console. Save the folder data to your computer desktop.
Step 2
Prepare a bootable floppy disk or USB flash drive. To do this, go to "My Computer" and click on the required disk with the right mouse button. Next, select the formatting section and put a tick next to the item "Create a bootable MS-DOS disk". Copy the downloaded DosFlash 16 program files to a bootable floppy disk.
Step 3
Disassemble the set-top box so that you can reach the SATA connector of the device's drive. Turn off the computer and disassemble its case. Disconnect all SATA devices from the motherboard and connect the SATA connector to the Xbox drive. Turn on your computer and go to BIOS, where set to boot from a floppy disk or USB flash drive. Save the settings. Reboot your system.
Step 4
Turn on your Xbox after the command prompt appears. Enter the inscription “dosflash16” in it. Confirm the operation by specifying the device number "0" or "1". After that, you need to turn off and turn on the set-top box so that a request appears, in which select the Read (R) item. Press Enter and enter a name for the updated firmware. After it is saved, you need to turn off the computer and the set-top box and turn on all SATA devices in place. Go to BIOS and set the initial boot settings.
Step 5
Unpack the updated Xtreme firmware and select the folder in it that matches the speed of your STB drive. Copy the created file to this folder, then run Make iXtreme firmware.bat to create the ix14.bin update. In order to install it on the console and thereby update the Xbox, you need to repeat the steps of the previous paragraph. However, at the time of the request, specify the Write (W) item, and then specify ix14.bin.
