In September 2013, Apple released a completely new operating system for its devices - iOS 7. With this firmware, phones began to look completely different. For the iPhone 4, this is the latest available firmware.
Instructions
Step 1
There are two ways to update the operating system on iPhone. The first is to update the phone via Wi-Fi on the device itself. To do this, you need a Wi-Fi internet source, a phone charge of more than 60%, or a charger connected to the phone. To update, go to the "Settings" menu item, in it enter the "General" submenu, and then "Software update".
Step 2
In the window that opens, you will be prompted to update the software, agree and wait for the download and update of the phone's firmware. It is important not to turn off the Internet or turn on airplane mode during the update, otherwise the iOS download will stop and the phone will not be updated. When the software is downloaded, the phone will start installing it. Do not be alarmed by the black screen of your smartphone, the company sign that appears on it - a bitten off apple, the download line under it - indicate the software installation process. Once installed, your phone will turn on and you can enjoy all the benefits of the new operating system.
Step 3
The second way to install new software is through iTunes. It will be useful for those who cannot update the firmware via Wi-Fi. You can download the iTunes program to control iPhone from your computer from the official Apple website. Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable, launch iTunes and open iPhone. The corresponding button should appear in the upper right corner of the screen. When the device opens, click on "Update" and wait until the firmware file starts downloading. Do not disconnect your phone from your computer until iOS is installed, and also make sure your internet connection is uninterrupted.
