A steamer and a multicooker are two modern kitchen electrical appliances that, at first glance and in name, hardly differ from each other. In fact, they have different functions and their own advantages and disadvantages. They differ in cooking methods, cooking times, cost and other qualities.
Instructions
Step 1
A steamer, as the name suggests, prepares food by steaming. But this does not mean that she offers cooking a small number of dishes. With the help of steam, you can make not only porridge, steam cutlets and boiled vegetables, but also more complex dishes - pilaf, risotto, fish dishes, as well as bread, pies, cakes and much more. But because of one cooking method, the steamer cannot boast of a variety of flavors. On the other hand, most modern appliances that prepare food at a time are equipped with several containers with different volumes and allow you to make several dishes at the same time. In addition, steamed food retains most of the vitamins and minerals and is considered the healthiest.
Step 2
A multicooker, unlike a steamer, can cook food in different ways, including steam. This appliance can spot a steamer, while offering many more functions. In a multicooker you can fry, stew, grill, bake. Therefore, the list of recipes that will be able to create culinary masterpieces is much larger. You will not be able to cook fries or crusty meat in a double boiler. But for cooking food for children, a steamer is indispensable, many devices are equipped with the function of chopping cooked products.
Step 3
But in most modern multicookers, the containers are quite small, it is impossible to cook food in them for a large number of people. The multicooker is not suitable for families of 5-7 people or preparing food for a party with many guests. Typically, a multicooker bowl has a volume of 2.5 to 4.5 liters. And she's only one, you won't be able to cook several dishes at the same time. In addition, only food prepared with the steam or stew function can be considered healthy. In other cases, vitamins are lost, and when frying or deep-fried food becomes harmful.
Step 4
A multicooker is more expensive than a double boiler, sometimes several times. This is due to the large number of functions and more complex work. Although some new models of steamers have much more features (timer, different modes, the ability to save programs) and are more expensive. The multicooker saves more time and space as it replaces several devices at once.
Step 5
It is impossible to say unequivocally that it is better - a slow cooker or a double boiler, it all depends on financial capabilities, culinary habits, the number of people on which you need to cook.
