When the operating system boots, some applications are launched, the shortcuts of which are in the startup list. You can add absolutely any application to this list. For some users, the news about the existence of such a list (autoload file) will be very useful, since from this list you can remove unnecessary programs that slow down the system.

Instructions

Step 1

Some users of the line of Windows operating systems have probably seen the Startup section in the Start menu. It contains only a part of startup programs. The entire list of programs can be done using the "System Settings" applet. Click the Start menu, select Run. In the window that opens, enter the msconfig command and click the "OK" button.

Step 2

In the "System Settings" window, go to the "Startup" tab, you will see a list of programs that are loaded at system startup. If you want to prohibit the launch of some programs, uncheck some of the items, then click the "Apply" and "Close" buttons.

Step 3

In the window that appears with a warning about the need to reboot the system, click the "Exit without rebooting" button.

Step 4

It is also possible to view and edit items in the startup list through third-party programs that are not included in the standard programs of Windows operating systems, for example, Autoruns. The program is freely available and can be easily downloaded from the Internet. After downloading this program, you need to unzip it and run it (no installation required).

Step 5

This utility shows not only the programs that are in the startup list, but also various elements and services of the operating system, which are also loaded along with other programs. To view startup programs, go to the Logon tab. You will see a list of applications with an indication of the executable file and a registry branch.

Step 6

To remove any utility from the startup list, just uncheck a specific item and when you exit the program, the changes made will be automatically saved. If you are versed in editing the system registry, you can delete the startup item through the registry editor: double-click on the item - the editor will open and the registry branch in which this program is located.
