Today, videos are often delivered to us via an internet-connected computer. But viewing them, of course, is more convenient on the TV screen, which can be directly connected to the computer. In addition, such a connection will eliminate the need to record a movie on some kind of intermediate media. Computer games on the TV screen also look completely different, and it is often more convenient to work with application programs with such a connection.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the type of interface you will use to connect your computer to the TV. These can be RCA, S-Video, DVI, HDMI, VGA interfaces - the choice depends on the connectors on the computer's video card and on the TV for connecting external devices. If more than one option is available, select the one that provides the best quality - in the list above, they are listed in ascending order of signal transmission quality.
Step 2
Connect the cable to the corresponding interface connectors on the computer and the TV. Manufacturers recommend doing this with the computer turned off. Then boot the operating system.
Step 3
Right click on your desktop background. If the computer is running Windows 7, the pop-up context menu will contain the item "Screen resolution" - select it, and the OS will open one of the Control Panel applets.
Step 4
There are two icons in the box under “Screen Settings”, one of which stands for the monitor, the other for the TV. Click the TV icon and open the drop-down list "Multiple screens". One of the items placed in it allows you to leave half of the image in the monitor, and the other to output to an external display device. With the help of another item, you can duplicate the picture on both screens. Two more items are designed to display the desktop only on the monitor or only on the TV. Depending on the purpose of connecting the television device to the computer, select one of the options and click on the "Apply" button.
Step 5
Set the TV to video playback mode. Then, using the slider in the "Resolution" drop-down list in the "Control Panel" applet, select the optimal size of the picture on the screen. The change will be displayed on the TV whenever you click on the "Apply" button. When finished, click on the OK button.
