The modern screen consists of two parts: a touchscreen and a matrix located behind it. The touchscreen is the upper part of the screen, consisting of a touch film and glass. The sensor film is very sensitive to mechanical damage, so working with it requires extra care, some knowledge and some experience.
Necessary
solder, flux, temperature stabilized soldering iron, thin knife or blade
Instructions
Step 1
Be extremely careful already at the stage of opening the package with a touchscreen. Decide what type of touchscreen connection you have with the matrix. There is one type, when the touchscreen cable is soldered to the back of the matrix. The second type of display does not use soldering. Replacing the touchscreen on the second type screen is much easier.
Step 2
Insert the touchscreen cable and the cable of your matrix into each connector of the board. Check that the cables are fully inserted and securely fastened.
Step 3
If your screen is with a soldered board, then take a soldering iron, unsolder the old touchscreen from the inside of the screen. Monitor the temperature of the soldering iron so that a too hot tip does not damage the die.
Attention! Keep a relatively low temperature at the immediate re-soldering point for the same reason.
Step 4
Take a knife with a thin blade, carefully cut the touchscreen with glass from the matrix. Perform the operation very carefully so as not to touch the matrix crystals. Examine your screen, maybe the touchscreen is glued in place of the metal frame, which is put on the matrix. Then remove the frame first.
Step 5
Remove the plastic film on the back of the touchscreen that covers the adhesive and glass. Usually the manufacturer produces an adhesive layer in black or white. Place the new touchscreen in place.
Step 6
If your screen is not soldered, then skip the next step. Otherwise, you should solder the touchscreen cable to the matrix. Again, be careful not to overheat the matrix, thereby not damaging it under the influence of high temperature.
Step 7
Now proceed to the installation of the screen in the PDA. Check that the connector is fully seated. Be extremely careful with the cable, because it often breaks when you replace the touchscreen yourself. Remember to remove the protective film.
Step 8
If the screen adjustment is not performed, then the touchscreen is faulty. The first option is to exchange it at the place of purchase. The second option is to hand the PDA to a service center. Attention! If you decide to exchange the touchscreen, then check that all protective films are in place!
