iPhone is a universal device that can also be used by people with disabilities. Especially for them, the manufacturer has provided its smartphone with a visual notification of the call: instead of a melody (or with it), the device starts blinking with a flash.

However, this function can be useful to other users, because it can be turned on when the silent mode is used: when the child is sleeping, at lectures, the function will also help lovers of loud music - the call will hardly be heard, but the flash will be noticeable.

With the standard settings, the notification of an incoming call on the iPhone occurs with the help of a melody and vibration, while the user can configure these notifications by himself: put a favorite melody or an individual type of vibration. The visual notification of a call is made using the camera flash: it starts blinking.

I must say that a built-in LED flash is present in the iPhone from the fourth generation model, in earlier models there is no flash, but it can be purchased separately and connected to the 30-pin connector. All models older than iPhone 4 have a flash from the start.

The flash LED is located on the back of the device next to the camera lens, its main function is to illuminate the scene when taking photos and recording videos, but this is not the only area of its application.

It is not difficult to set up the visual type of call, for this you do not need to install any special programs, everything can be done within the framework of the standard settings of the device.

For the flash to flash on iPhone when you call, you need:

1. On the main screen, select the "Settings" item, it is located in the lower right corner and looks like a gray circle.

2. In the settings menu that opens, select the "General" item.

3. In the next menu, click on the "Universal access" item.

4. Go to the "Hearing" section and switch the "LED flash for notifications" switch to the operating position.

In this case, the flash will flash only if the iPhone screen is locked. Otherwise (if the device is currently working and performing any functions), the flash will not be turned on, because there is no need for this: the user will see an alert about an incoming call on the device screen.

In addition to notifications about incoming calls, the flash will also work on incoming messages, as well as when the alarm rings.

Interestingly, the iOs 7 firmware has a flashlight function, which is the same LED flash. Turning it on is very simple - you just need to unlock the screen, enter the Control Panel and click on the "Flashlight" button in the lower left corner. Turns off such a flashlight with the button in the lower right corner with the image of the camera.
