If you have two old broadband service (DSL) modems, you can use them to connect to the Internet. The best solution to your problem is to buy an additional ADSL router.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect the router to your phone line and computer, and then connect both modems to the network ports on the router.
Step 2
Connect the modem to the signal source. If the source is a cable signal, connect the modem to the cable wire. If it is a DSL signal, connect it to a telephone line.
Step 3
Connect the correct ends of the USB cable to the USB ports on the modem and computer. Connect ethernet cable with modem and computer
Step 4
Connect the modem to a power source and then turn it on.
Step 5
Wait until all lights on the modem stop blinking and then you can turn on the computer. When your computer's hardware wizard detects new devices, you will need to insert the software disc that the modems were sold with in order to install the software for the new devices.
Step 6
If you have wireless interfaces on your computers, you need a wireless router. When connecting modems, set up a wireless network and make sure to use WEP or WPA channels to encrypt your network.
Step 7
If you do not have a wireless network interface, when you try to connect two modems, the connection will be interrupted. To connect a second DSL modem, you must purchase a DSL internet router. This router will allow you to connect modems and connect your internet connection. The DSL router gives each computer its own IP address. Regardless of which computer is using the Internet, the router uses the same ISP on the DSL side of the line.

A DSL router allows you to use more than one modem, but consider the number of ports the router assigns. Home routers should not assign more than 255 ports. If the DSL line is congested, the internet connection will fail or even the modems will break down.
