Teletext (subtitles) is information in text format transmitted with the main image. It is intended for people with hearing impairments and is an obligatory part of the broadcasting of European channels. How do I set it up on my TV?
Instructions
Step 1
Before purchasing your TV, make sure it supports teletext. To do this, he must have the PAT function - simultaneous support for image and text information. Most modern TVs, both Russian and foreign, have it.
Step 2
Unlike European countries, not all Russian television channels are equipped with teletext, but the First Central Channel must have it without fail, so tuning can be done with this station. Turn on your TV and set it to First. In addition, teletext can be tuned using foreign broadcast channels, for example, Euronews.
Step 3
Read the instructions for your TV carefully. The default settings route looks like this. Press the teletext access button on the remote control. Then press 888 and select the desired page. Exit the teletext menu, activate the "Subtitles" line and select the "On" option. or “Sat. incl. soundless". In the latter case, subtitles will turn on when you mute the sound with the mute button. If the settings on your TV model differ, they should be clearly stated in the instructions.
Step 4
Adjust the brightness of the teletext. To do this, enter the menu using the remote control and select the desired line - "Brightness". Use the "+" and "-" buttons to bring the subtitle brightness to about 39 units - this is considered to be normal brightness, but you can increase or decrease it at your choice. The brightness of the teletext must not exceed the brightness of the picture itself.
Step 5
The availability of teletext and its clarity depends not only on the channel of information transmission, but also on the quality of the signal. If the letters are too vague and impossible to read, try tuning the antenna or install a better one.
