Step 1
Decide how many extensions you need to run your office. To calculate the required number, start from the number of employees. Be sure to include your extension number for fax and other possible office purposes. Determine how many external lines will be able to ensure the smooth operation of the office. If your phone number is used as a hotline, the number of external lines must match the size of the region you work with and the number of employees handling calls.
Step 2
Connect the required number of lines. It should not be less than the required number of incoming lines. If you have a main telephone line connected, expand it with additional ones. To do this, you should contact the company that provides your office with a telephone connection. After the operator's specialists check your communications and confirm the availability of technical capability for the necessary connections, additional lines can be drawn to your office.
Step 3
Buy an office telephone exchange that matches your needs. If there is no such PBX on sale, purchase one that can later be expanded to the desired modification. This is done using special expansion cards, which will also need to be purchased.
Step 4
Contact your PBX engineer. He must install expansion boards in the station, connect the telephone line to the PBX and program the station. In order to have a guarantee of quality work, invite a specialist not from the outside, but from the telephone company whose services you use. Most likely, the call of the engineer will be paid.
Step 5
Establish a digital channel if the PBX cannot provide the required number of internal and external numbers. Such a service can be provided by a telecom operator. Make a call plan and list the locations of employees' phone numbers.
