The HDMI interface provides for the transmission of not only images, but also sound. If both the source and the TV support Sound over HDMI, there is no problem. But what if there is no support for this standard in at least one of the paired devices?
Instructions
Step 1
You can send an audio signal from the source to the TV not only via the HDMI cable itself, but also via a separate analog cable. Locate the RCA jack labeled Audio in on the TV. If there are several, use the one closest to the HDMI input. Connect it with a cable to the signal source connector labeled Audio out.
Step 2
Some signal sources do not have RCA connectors, but are equipped with SCART connectors. To remove the audio signal from such a device, use a SCART-RCA adapter. In the absence of such an adapter, use the SCART plug, which has the following contacts: 3 - sound output, 4 - common.
Step 3
There are televisions that do not have the ability to receive image data from one connector, and an audio signal from another. In addition, not only TVs are equipped with an HDMI interface, but also large monitors, in which amplifiers and speakers are absent. In this case, your existing component audio system or music center will come to the rescue. Find a free AUX connector (also RCA type) on the back of the amplifier and connect the signal to it. If the source is stereo, connect it like this: white jack for left, red for right.
Step 4
In the absence of an audio system, computer speakers will come to the rescue. Locate the headphone jack on the source (do not confuse it with the microphone jack on your DVD player with karaoke function) and connect your speakers to it. If the source does not have a headphone jack, feed the signal from its line-out to the preamplifier, and from the latter to the computer speakers. You can get by with a simple adapter, in which there is no preamplifier, but the sound will be noticeably quieter.
Step 5
If you are experienced in repairing TVs and are familiar with safety precautions, sound the audio signal directly to the amplifier of the unit. Connect the common wires of the TV and the signal source together. Find the circuit for switching on the microcircuit on which the amplifier is built. Apply the signal to the input terminal of this microcircuit through a capacitor with a capacity of about 0.5 μF.
