A computer video projector requires more complex startup and shutdown procedures than a conventional monitor. Failure to follow the sequence in this procedure can damage an expensive projection lamp prematurely.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure your computer, projector, and monitor (if equipped) are unplugged. Also make sure the projector has the same video interface as the machine's video card (VGA or DVI).

Step 2

If the computer is a desktop computer, disconnect the monitor from the computer.

Step 3

Connect the projector with the supplied cable to the computer's graphics card instead of the monitor. On the projector itself, of the two identical connectors, select the one labeled "Computer in".

Step 4

If you have a monitor, connect it to the connector on the projector labeled "Monitor out".

Step 5

Power up all devices. Turn on the computer and monitor as usual. Note that the bi-color LED on the projector is solid amber.

Step 6

Remove the lens cap. Press the power button on the projector. The bi-color LED will remain amber but will start blinking. This means that the projection lamp automatic ramp-up sequence has started. At some point in this sequence, the fan will turn on, followed by a dim splash screen with the name of the projector. When it becomes bright, the bi-color LED will turn green, and the machine will cycle through the search for the signal source until it finds a computer. After that, you will see the same image on the big screen as on the monitor.

Step 7

If you are using a laptop, another procedure may be required. Press the key combination on its keyboard to switch between the built-in screen and monitor output. It is indicated in the instructions, for example, "Fn" + "F8". Typically, the first press of this keyboard shortcut switches the output from the built-in screen to the output, the second makes both work, and the third again turns on only the built-in screen.

Step 8

Use the lever to adjust the size of the image and the ring next to the lens to adjust the focus.

Step 9

After you finish using the projector, turn off your computer and monitor as usual. Press the power button twice to turn off the projector itself. The lamp cooldown sequence will start and the bi-color LED will flash green. Only when it turns yellow and steady again can the projector be unplugged. Then replace the lens cap, disconnect all power cables, and connect the monitor back to the computer directly.
