A modern mobile phone, like a personal computer, is equipped with file storage devices. When the storage space is low, some of the files have to be deleted. But what to do with a file that gets an error when trying to delete it?

Instructions

Step 1

Symbian smartphones have a hidden Z: drive. It is not displayed by the built-in file manager, but it can be seen using third-party programs (FExplorer, X-Plore and Y-Browser). The user can freely view the entire tree of folders on this disk, view any files, but it is impossible to delete any of them or change its contents. This is due to the fact that the Z: drive is designed to store the phone's firmware, and write protection was introduced specifically so that the virus could not completely disable the device.

Step 2

If the file is located on a disk that is not write-protected, but you still cannot delete it, first check its attributes. Use a third-party file manager for this. Select the menu item corresponding to the mode of changing the attributes (the location of this item depends on the version of the program) and make the Read only attribute inactive.

Step 3

A file on an unprotected disk that does not have the Read only attribute may not be deleted because it is busy with one or another application. On a multitasking phone, close all running programs one at a time until you can delete the file. In the Symbian operating system, the task list is invoked by holding the button for a long time to invoke the menu. You can also close a program that is not responding by using the FExplorer file manager. Do not try to close with it not programs, but processes, especially those whose purpose you do not know. Sometimes, even after all programs have finished, you can delete a busy file only after rebooting the phone.

Step 4

If a file that is not occupied by any application is not deleted by the phone, but is stored on a memory card, try using a card reader. If it does not help, check the position of the write-protect switch on the card itself (if any). Finally, the card can force itself into Read only mode in order to prevent data loss if it is badly worn out. Then immediately back up the card and format it. If the situation repeats, replace the card with another.
