The sound quality from the TV's built-in speakers is not always good. But even a small machine can be made to sound much better. To do this, just connect it to an external amplifier with speakers.
Instructions
Step 1
Check if the TV has:
- DIN jacks for sound recording on a tape recorder;
- headphone jack;
- RCA type connector with a sound line-out (not an input!);
- SCART sockets. If you have at least one of the above, you can connect the TV to the amplifier.
Step 2
For a DIN type socket, use the middle pin as the common wire, as the contact on which the sound signal is present - either left or right, depending on the date of manufacture of the TV. Such a jack is practically not found on stereo TVs. If it is, then the extreme right or left contact corresponds to the right channel, and the one located between it and the common one - to the left.
Step 3
Connect the cable to the headphone jack together with the plug taken from the damaged headphones. Two white or yellow conductors correspond to the common wire, green or blue - to the left channel, red or orange - to the right. On a mono TV, the channel outputs are connected in parallel. Please note that the sound volume in this case can be adjusted not only on the amplifier, but also on the TV.
Step 4
For an RCA type connector, use the ring contact as the common, and the pin as the output. If the TV is stereo, the jack corresponding to the left channel is white (like a monaural TV), the right one is red (and vice versa). Do not try to pick up the audio signal from the yellow connector - there is only an image signal.
Step 5
On a SCART socket, use pin 4 as a common, from pin 3 remove the signal for the left channel, from pin 1 - for the right. Do not use pin 1 for a monaural TV.
Step 6
How the signals are fed to the amplifier depends on which input jacks it uses (DIN or RCA). Apply signals to them as described, respectively, in steps 1 and 3. If the TV is monaural, and the amplifier is stereo, connect the inputs of the latter in parallel. If the signal is being picked up from the headphone output, use the amplifier input with the worst sensitivity.
