There are situations when Internet access is simply necessary. But, for example, on the road, it is not always possible to connect to a wireless or local network. At this point, you can go online using your mobile phone as a modem.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect your cell phone to your computer. There are 3 main options for doing this: using a USB cable, Bluetooth, and IrDA. IrDA and Bluetooth are suitable only for those users who have installed special adapters for these devices both on the computer and on the phone. In this case, the USB cable is more relevant if you urgently need to connect to the Internet, since this method does not take time to install.
Step 2
Set up your phone to go online using GPRS. You can make changes to the communication parameters yourself, but for this you need to know the access point for accessing the Internet that your mobile operator uses. To simplify the task of setting up the Internet, call the support service of your mobile partner and ask for automatic settings. The received configuration message must be saved and the received access point must be set to a standard one for connecting to the Internet.
Step 3
After all the settings have been made and the phone has been synchronized with the computer, you need to configure the GPRS connection itself on the PC. Go through the "Start" menu in the "Control Panel" and open the "Phone and Modem Options" tab. In the window that opens, enter your area code and select your phone from the list of possible modems. Open the properties of the modem and go to the diagnostics tab. Press the "Poll the modem" button and wait for a response.
Step 4
Now you need to create a new connection on your computer. From the Start menu, go to Connections and click the Create New tab. Go to the "Set up connections manually" tab. Select the connection via "Normal modem". Select your phone from the list of modems. Enter your vendor name and phone number * 99 #. In the "Username" field, write the name of your mobile operator in lowercase letters.
Step 5
In the window that opens, click "Properties", select the "Modem-phone" tab. Now click on the "Network" tab and open "Options". Check the boxes next to the LCP extension and the consistency of multichannel with single-link connections. Click "Properties" and check the boxes next to automatically obtain the IP address and DSN server. Open the "Advanced" tab and uncheck the "Use IP header compression" value.
Step 6
Open "Modems" through the device manager and click "Initialize". In the line that appears, enter the initialization value that the operator indicated to you. Now you can connect to the internet.
