Garmin navigators usually come with a set of maps. However, they may not suit all users. Therefore, the question arises of installing additional Garmin maps, which can be either licensed or freely distributed. To install the former, you need to contact the developers, but the latter can be installed independently by downloading from the Internet.
Instructions
Step 1
To install official Garmin maps, you need a special program with which you can find the latest versions of maps and download them according to the instructions provided. To do this, simply connect your navigator to a computer connected to the Internet.
Step 2
It takes more time to install unofficial maps. To do this, connect your navigator to your computer. But first, install the MapSource software on your computer. To do this, download it, open garmin.com in your web browser, then click Support / Software / Mapping Programs. Next, from the entire list, find the MapSource link and follow it to start the download.
Step 3
When the download is finished, unzip the archive. Run the msmain.msi file first, and then the setup.exe file. Wait for the complete installation of the program.
Step 4
Find and download the maps for your Garmin navigator that you want to install. For the downloaded maps, run the Install file one by one so that information about them is saved in the system registry.
Step 5
Next, start the MapSource program. Click on "Utilities" and then "Manage Map Products". This menu is able to find all Garmin maps installed on the system.
Step 6
On the left in the upper part of the program window, find the list with maps and select the one you want to install.
Step 7
On the toolbar, find the icon in the form of a rectangle, click on it, then click on the map on the right side of the program window. After that, its name will be highlighted in the list on the left side of the window. Carry out the same operation with all the maps that you want to install on the navigation device.
Step 8
Click on the down arrow icon located on the toolbar. Any maps you choose to install will be combined into an.img file and sent to your Garmin navigator. Installation is complete.
