The IP, which is correctly called the Internet Protocol Address, is the network address of a particular node on the Internet. In order to find out the IP switch number, you can use several methods of varying degrees of complexity.

Instructions

Step 1

First, you need to study in detail the instructions for the switch attached by the manufacturer, the quick start guide section, because it often contains the necessary information about the device. The installation disk, which is usually attached to the device, can also help.

Step 2

However, sometimes this method cannot be applied: the device is not new, there is no disc and instructions, it contains typos, etc. Then look at the IP of the switch in the settings of the computer to which the device is connected. In the main menu (the "Start" button, which is located in the lower left corner of the monitor), select the "Settings" section, then go to "Network Connections" and then to the "Local Area Connection" section.

Step 3

Then click on this icon with the right mouse button and go to the subsection "Properties". In it you need to select the item "Internet Protocol TCP / IP", then click on "Properties" again. The window with the name "Default gateway" will contain information about the required IP-address of the device.

Step 4

You can use a different method - more laborious. Its use is based on the fact that in these devices, as a rule, the DHCP server is initially enabled. This makes it possible to automatically configure the network adapters of computers included in the local network. Therefore, if the initial settings in the switch have not been changed by the administrator and are set to "default", the network adapters of computers in automatic mode should receive all settings, which will include the IP address.

Step 5

To see these settings, look at the "Support" tab, which is located in the adapter properties. Opening the tab, you will see a window with information, among which there will be data on the IP address of the default gateway. The given IP address will be the address of the switch.

Step 6

In addition, if the previous methods for some reason did not help, you can determine the IP of the switch by the selection method, given the fact that, as a rule, the number of used internal addresses of switches is quite limited. The most frequently used addresses are listed here: * 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.254, 192.168.1.254; * 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.254; * 172.16.0.1, 172.16.1.1, 172.16.0.254, 172.16.1.254.
